The purpose of this project was to critically assess the limitations of the current Microscopic Particulate Analysis (MPA), and to develop improvements based on analytical advancements and the current understanding of the science of microbial fate and transport in aquifers. The overarching goal was to improve the MPA method such that the microbial risks of surface waters on groundwater systems could be better estimated to benefit the larger Groundwater Under Direct Influence (GWUDI) assessment context.
