The 21st century has brought about a striking change in the way we think about and design our streets, sidewalks, alleys, and landscaping to absorb runoff through a more natural place. Low Impact Development (LID) techniques, for example, facilitate sustainable stormwater management and present the opportunity to gain advantage of the valuable services that nature can offer. The City of Los Angeles is a pioneer and leader in implementing the principles of LID into its design of streets, alleys, sidewalks, and parking lots. Over the last three years, Carollo has worked on projects aimed at stormwater capture, treatment, and use within Los Angeles County.
